ANNOUNCEMENT OF A NEW OIL DISCOVERY National Oil Corporation (NOC), Sonatrach (SIPEX) Libya (Operator) , Oil India, and Indian Oil being partners in an Exploration and Sharing agreement in area 95/96 signed in May 2008, report initial information concerning the exploration (New Field Wildcat) well A1-96/01 drilled in contract area 95/96 in Ghadames Basin. The well is located approximately 360 km southwest of Tripoli and 70 km south of El-wafa Field.

Chairman of NOC meets with Chairman of Total On Tuesday 29/01/2013 Dr. Nuri Balrwin Chairman of NOC met with
Mr. Christophe de Margerie, Chairman and CEO of French oil and gas company Total S.A and the delegation accompanying him.
The two sides discussed ways of cooperation in oil and gas activity, especially in exploration field, whereas the company has exploration areas that it had won during public bid rounds as well as ways to develop production that carried out by Mabrouk Oil Operations which operates on behalf of NOC and Total.


Confrontation of Oil Spills Workshop In the efforts of NOC to highlight the environmental problems associated with the production operation and manufacturing of oil and gas and to take measures, procedures and solutions to prevent or minimize their occurrence, transfer of knowledge and benefit from the experiences of companies operating in the oil sector,
a workshop was held under the supervision of the National Oil Corporation and in collaboration with BP. a On 21-22/01/2013 in Corinthia hotel in Tripoli entitled (Confrontation of oil spills)


NOC meeting with British trade mission for Energy Industries Council EIC on Monday, 21.01.2013 a meeting was held between
members of trade mission for British Energy Industries Council (EIC) headed by Mr. Terry Willis and Mr. Abul Qasim Shanger member of the management committee of NOC, a number of oil companies directors , managers of departments in NOC as well as a large number of experts and specialists from the ministry , NOC and the oil companies.
In the opening speech Mr. Shanger welcomed the Council, and all the attendance, whereas stressed that business and investment opportunities in Libya are large and available to British companies, similar to other global companies, he also clarified that a large number of trainees from the oil sector are in Britain.

Meeting for the development of Zawia oil and commercial port On Saturday 19.01.2013 a meeting was held between
Minister of Oil and Gas H.E Dr. Abdul Bari Laroussi and Minister of Communications and Transport H.E AbdulQader Mohammed Ahmed, the meeting addressed the development and expansion of Zawia commercial and oil port to increase its capacity.
The two parties agreed to intensify efforts and to have meeting between the experts periodically in order to build new Libya.

Wintershall Libya job vacant for PROCESS ENGINEER Print E-mail
Wintershall Libya invites applications for the post of Process Engineer at our Jakhira facility in concessions C-96 and C-97. The company operates a work schedule of 4 weeks in the desert followed by 4 weeks on leave.
PROCESS ENGINEER
The Process Engineer is responsible for Process Engineering, Projects and for ongoing improvement in existing facilities within the Wintershall-Libya Field.
Key areas of focus for the Process include: providing plant trouble-shooting, optimization and operations support and providing technical support to field operations team. This involves surface facility engineering (pipelines, gas oil separation and gas utilization, power plant etc.), General knowledge of Discipline Engineering (Mechanical, Piping, Equipment, Tanks, Vessels, Pumps, Compressors, Chemical Injection, etc) and an appreciation of operational related issues.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

§ Provide timely support to operation in identifying operation-related problems and developing cost effective solutions. Process calculation and support to operation as and when required with a high priority.
§ Process analysis, troubleshooting and Plant / Equipment Optimization, on operating facilities and identify new operating philosophies / technology opportunities where possible.
§ Generate process design including plant models (HYSYS), process flow diagrams and heat and material balances. Process simulation using ASPEN, PIPESIM (or similar).
§ Reviewing and providing input and benefit/risk recommendations on processing alternatives to meet business objectives for new and revamp projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
§ Libyan nationality
§ Bachelor's / Master degree minimum in Petroleum, Chemical or Process Engineering.
§ Minimum of 5 years experience of Process Engineering within Oil & Gas or EPC company.
§ Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations.
§ Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and process simulation software ASPEN, PIPESIM (or similar).
§ Ability to work and set priorities in a multi task environment (multiple and diverse assignments).
§ Self motivation - ability to work organize and complete tasks without direction.
§ Excellent communications skills and ability to work with operations, projects, third parties and regulatory agencies.
§ Work well in a team environment with other technical and operations staff and engineering contractors.
