Shell Libya provides a Gas Course Under the umbrella of the NOC-Shell Libya Knowledge
Transfer MoU, a Shell Natural Gas course was held in Tripoli. Participants from NOC, RASCO and SOC joined the 2-day course held on Wednesday 3rd June 2009 and Thursday 4th June 2009 at the Waddan hotel where Shell presented a wide array of topics relevant to the global gas industry and the Gas Value Chain. Some of the topics covered were Gas Exploration, Gas Quality, Gas Pricing, Gas Transportation, Gas Project Development, Gas Markets and LNG. The course was well received and participants were active in asking relevant and interesting questions.



Shell-NOC Technology Transfer Workshop As part of the Knowledge Transfer Agreement signed between
Shell and NOC in August 2008, Shell organized a workshop on Shell Synthetic Oil Based Mud Technology for representatives of NOC, SOC, PTQI, LPI and Jowfe companies, in the presence of Mr Abdelfatah Shagan, Production and Reserve Development Manager and Ahmed Aoun, Shell Libya Deputy General Manager.
Thierry de Meijer Shell Drilling Operations Manager opened the session with a presentation on Shell Deep Gas the use of new technologies to manage challenges related to high temperature high-pressure Drilling operations.


The ESSL organised its monthly lecture meeting The ESSL organised its monthly lecture meeting on
Tuesday May 19th, 2009 in Tripoli.  Mr.  Mark Shann from BP Libya Exploration Manager, presented a talk titled “Mesozoic to Cenozoic Tectono–Stratigraphic Evolution of North Africa “Implications from the Nile to Algeria to the geological evolution and petroleum potential of Libya”.  The lecture was attended by appreciable number of ESSL members.


Cultural and Scientific Agreement between University of Palermo and the Seventh of April University On Wednesday, 13/05/2009 a cultural and scientific agreement
was signed between the Seventh of April University and the University of Palermo, Italy.
Under the agreement, a mutual cooperation in many areas such as the exchange of information, seminars and joint scientific research and the exchange of lecturers and students was established

The accession of the Aljghbob Mummy to the National Museum. On Monday, 11.05.2009 a celebration took place in
Tripoli to mark the accession of the Aljghbob Mummy to the National Museum. The celebration was attended by the Director of Antiquities, the Chairman of the Management Committee of Mellitah Oil & Gas Company, the Director of the Department of Sustainable Development, a number of NOC staff and a representative from the Gaddafi Foundation for Development. The ceremony was also attended by the Italian Ambassador to Libya and a number of Ambassadors accredited in Libya, specialists in the field of antiquities from both the Libyan and Italian sides and a large group from the general public. Eni North Africa supported the mummy’s restoration project as part of the contribution of international oil companies in sustainable development programs in Libya.
