A new discovery by Amereada Hess On 23/12/2008, NOC announced that the American
Company, Amereada Hess , has made a new discovery in the well ( A1-54/1 ) a new wildcat well in offshore Sirt Basin . the well is located approximately 95 km North of Ras Lanuf City/Terminal .
The well A1-54/1 ( Arous Al-Bahar ) drilled in a water depth of about 2807 to total depth of 11000 feet , the preliminary log evaluation suggested to encounter hydrocarbons in several intervals where further evaluation will be conducted .


A new oil discovery by AGOCO NOC announced on Monday 15/12/2008 that Arabian
Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) had made a new oil discovery in the well D1-NC7ِِ ِA (New Field Wildcat well) in Ghadames Basin. The well is located approximately 500 m south of Tripoli , and 170 km west of Hamada Oil field.
An initial production test established an oil and gas flows as follows : -

Meeting with the British Ambassador On Monday 01/12/2008 Dr. Shokri Ghanem, NOC’s Chairman met
with H.E. Sir Vincent Fean, the British Ambassador to Libya and Mr. Gareth O’Brien, the British Embassy’s Commercial Secretary.
During the meeting both parties discussed the activities of British companies operating in Libya, especially in the field of oil and gas and also ways of promoting the special relations between both countries.
Sir Vincent discussed the British Government's preparations for the World Energy Conference to be held in London this month, with the aim of conveying the views relating to the major industrialized countries and the exporting of oil and gas. Both sides stressed the need for communication and exchange visits to promote relations between them in the near future.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdullah Ballut, Director of the Department of Planning, Studies and Cooperation.





Meeting with R.W.E On Wednesday 05/11/2008, Dr. Shokri Ghanem, Chairman

of the NOC Management Committee met with Mr. Christoph Schlichter, Senior Vice President of R. W. E. North Africa and Dr. Thomas Radwitz, General Manager of R.W.E. Libya. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Azzam Elmessallati, Member of the Management Committee for Investment and JVD Follow-up , Mr. Mohamed Aoun, Adviser to the Management Committee and Mr. Ahmed Gaddah, Legal Department Manager.

Discussions on the Educational Programs provided by BP Mr. Faraj Said , Acting  Chairman of the
Management Committee,  met on Tuesday 28/10/2008  with a number of specialists from BP (British Petroleum - Libya).
During the meeting, which was also attended by Mr Ali Essaleh, General Manager of Human Resources Development and Mr. Mohammed Alzendah, Manager of the Management Committee Affairs Office, BP’s programs and proposals for education and training for the years 2008 and 2009 were reviewed, to ensure the correct and applicable education and training programs are provided by the Company for developing and improving the capacity and skills of the Libyan nationals.
